There are a few options when it comes to airport transfers, the best option for you will depend on your budget and your desired convenience.

By bus: Catch the SAM Aerobus into Funchal centre (5€ one way and 8€ return ticket). You will get off at stop number 6, Avenida do Mar. From there, make your way to the Pinga bus stop and catch the Horários bus line 38 or 39. Get off at the stop ‘H1151 São Gonçalo Depois Igreja’, which is right outside the hostel gate.

By Bolt: We have the Bolt app on the island which operates exactly like Uber. You will need to download the app and request a ride. Sometimes there are no Bolt cars available as there are many more yellow taxis on the island than Bolt drivers.

No, we do not have a 24 hour reception, however we do accept check-ins at all hours. For check-ins after hours, we will send guests a self check-in guide.

Check-in is from 14:00. Guests arriving before this time are welcome to store their bags and hangout on the premises until their bed / room has been prepared.

Check-out of your room / bed is by 10:00, however guests are welcome to store their bags and hangout on the premises until later in the day.

We are about 3km away from the Zona Velha (the old town), just a 10 minute bus ride away.

Yes, it is only about a 3km walk however at times it becomes a steep downhill and there is no sidewalk to walk along so you will need to watch out for other cars and buses travelling along the road.

We have limited, free street parking available outside of the hostel. In addition, just down the road from the hostel there is a church and some shops where a small parking lot is situated. Guests are able to park their cars in this parking lot for free.

We do not provide breakfast, however we have a fully equipped kitchen where guests are able to prepare their own food. There is also a lovely, local bakery (Padaria Pastelaria Mariazinha) along the bus route from the hostel into Funchal centre.

Yes, we have a bus stop right outside the hostel gate with bus routes travelling to the centre of Funchal.

No, On Track Hostel only offers shared, unisex bathrooms.

Yes, we provide clean and comfortable bed linen (a bed sheet, duvet and pillow) and a bath towel. We do not provide beach towels and the bath towels provided may not be removed from the property.

As we are an eco-conscious hostel, we will only provide a linen and towel change once a week. If a guest wishes to have their linen changed sooner, an additional charge will apply.

On Track Hostel has a self service laundry room available, with a washer, dryer and hand washing basins. The washing machine and drying machine are both coin operated.

Unfortunately On Track Hostel does not permit guests under the age of 18, even when accompanied by an adult.
